After the wedding, Trevor and I took off on a cruise to Mexico. The cruise ported in Puerta La Varta, Mazatlan, and Cabos San Lucas. The journey to the cruise went splendidly. It took a little long to get on the ship, but it was nothing compared to trying to get off!
The cruise as a whole just seemed like a huge eating blur. We ate probably an average six full meals a day. My mom upgraded our room to a suite so we had our own balcony overlooking the ocean. Most nights we would call room service and order hot chocolate to drink out on the balcony in our fancy carnival robes. We attended some of the cruise's shows and watched their dancers, comedians, and entertainers.
Our first port was in Puerta La Varta. Here, we did an excursion, and went horse back riding. The horse back ride was really adventurous, and I am almost certain that my horse was prego which made it so even more. We rode horses up a canyon and through a river. We ended at a Mexican Diner (basically just lawn chairs with coolers full of beer) in the middle of no where where. Right near there, was a hot springs and this is where they put Trevor on a horse in his shorts. This was what they called "swimming" with the horse. So, I got some pretty sweet pictures of Trevor's and the horse's head just poking out above the water in the river.
Our second port was in Mazatlan on Thanksgiving. We did a van tour with another family to see the city. We went to a lookout point, a cathedral, a mexican produce market, saw cliff divers, and for some reason ended up at a Mexican Wal-mart. It may sound weird, but it was one of the best Thanksgivings I have ever had. We weren't with our families (which was a little disappointing) but we had each other and so much to be thankful for. After being dragged around, through a city clearly in poverty with little girls begging for money and through a meat market that had random nasty looking dogs just running around, I realized how much in my life I have to be thankful for (especially my sweet, new hubby). We talked about how we don't suffer from lack of any wants and needs like some people we had seen earlier. And also about how after the wedding, we have had everything we could ever need and much more! We just sat around in front of the mexican wal-mart for about an hour waiting for the family we did the bus tour with to be done shopping, and continued to talk about how grateful we were for everything in our lives (mostly the gospel). Anyways, it might not sound like a blast, but Trevor and I will never forget that Thanksgiving. Later, we had thanksgiving dinner on the cruise ship, or Trevor had Thanksgiving dinner on the ship while I was up in our room sick. Don't worry, later when I felt up to eating Trevor tracked down some turkey for me so I still got my bird on the big day.
The third port was Cabos. It looked beautiful from a far, but Trevor and I never left the ship. Instead, we studied for tests we both had waiting for us back home. After we left Cabos, something a little strange happened. The cruise director got on the intercom and said there was an emergency with one of the captain and fastest way to get him medical attention was to turn the ship around and return to Cabos. That little detour made the ship five hours late docking in Los Angeles, and getting off of the boat disastrous.
Our honeymoon was wonderful and the weather wonderful. But for some silly reason we both were just so SO SOOO excited to get home and start to play house together.
